SIAP.
quote:
Dalton Hilliard and Charles Alexander first mentioned college teammates. Given asecond chance, Faulk and Hilliard both remembered the specifics of times they were “earholed” in the NFL.?But Alexander stuck to his story.Even afterplaying seven years in the NFL,he never caught a one-on-one hit like the one he got in the spring of 1978 from teammate Scott Sulik. It was the spring of Alexander’s senior season in a Tiger Stadium scrimmage. He said the play was a 35 Trap, and it changed the rest of spring practice For the 6-foot—1, 225-pound two-time All American. Is also ended strong safety Sulik's career. “I bounced it to the outside and I had a choice to go out of bounds or turn up on Scott Sulik,” Alexander recalled.“I turned up on him and our helmets hit. “My helmet split in half and Scott blew his knee out and never played again. If I remember correctly, everybody said it sounded like a cannon.” Alexander later added, “As far as one person delivering a blow, that was the hardest.”

I wish we had a recording of that. Because that sounds like a vicious hit.

Scott was a few years a head of me at De La Salle in New Orleans, great athlete. But the way I heard that story was, reporters were there that day and they ran that play, Sulik hit Alexander hard, harder than he thought for a practice. Charlie A says, run the same damn play and thats when the big hit came.
