The small petals that break off do not penetrate enough to do real damage. So basically they would sit at the surface of the wound and a small 380-sized core is left over that penetrates effectively.

Is it still effective? Sure. Is it the most effective hollow point to stack the cards in your favor? Definitely no.

This was marketed very well and had good sales but it was the exact same design as Hornady Critical Defense. So while it may have looked really bad in court to have defended yourself with "zombie" ammo, it is still an effective self defense round. It makes the RIP look like a bb from a pellet gun.
