3rd year & you're already only teaching seniors? Yeah, you're in great shape. Seniors have all the early hormones done with & are doing what they need to do to graduate.
Try 3 years of freshmen/sophomores. They are coming out of MS with minimal skill, if they're Regular Ed. Honors kids at least know how to format. If you're in an area with Hispanic immigrants, they're likely 1st generation American education in their family. Trying to teach them English, Math, & general school protocol will eat up your class period faster than anything.
Also, underclass periods are typically overcrowded & in math-the teacher RARELY have their planning period, let alone 2.
That said, once you get thru Year 1, your lesson plans are written & you save them digitally. Edit minimally year to year. So you're golden. Print them out in pre-planning week. Turn them in/post in the folder the district requires. HS Math isn't changing year to year other than the textbooks or the schedule the districts tells you to follow.
But hey, we're in the same war. You're just in a nicer officer's tent further back from the front lines...
