big rumor was that if the Big 12 dissolved we would go Ivy League.
hahahaaha. I completely forgot about this. This actually is no bullshite. My sister said this same exact stuff. For a brief period in like 2010/2011 Baylor thought it could implement changes so they could be an ivy league type school by 2020. Not in the ivy league but just like an ivy league school. I needed a good laugh

I do remember there being talk of some sort of southern Ivy league with Rice and Tulane. I don't know who else they would have gotten though.

Nah. That isn't right.
In 2001 the board of regents and then president, implemented a program called "Baylor 2012." This placed emphasis on expanding research, offering more graduate programs, increasing admissions stats, improving athletics, increasing the endowment, increasing the amount of students who live on campus, implementing a huge building campaign, and a few other things.

No one was ever aiming to be an IVY league school. They were looking to place a large emphasis on research and gain a higher ranking in national ranking of Universities. They accomplished a lot of what they set out to do, but not everything.

Edit: To clarify this plan was for between 2001 and 2012.
