That's my point. You don't get a re-do for having your head up your arse. In this case the catcher should know the count. Hold onto the ball and let the batter look like an idiot sprinting down the first base line with two strikes. I don't see why the umpire should protect the defense in this case. It's something a team can only try once in a blue moon. This would be like protecting a base runner from the hidden ball trick.
