He said that play cost them the game, which it sounded like it did. He's blunt and honest.

He literally said "basically we lost because our first baseman couldn't keep his foot on the bag on a routine play with a perfect play" that's not blunt. That's purposely throwing Greg under the bus. Last night he didn't blame it on Cole Freeman but instead "many opportunities wasted" that's the much more professional and appropriate answer.

That one play didn't cost them the game. The fact that they don't score cost them the game. If they can't push 3 runs across the plate, I'd say you have other issues you need to be worrying ahout. For Lange to pitch like he did tonight and get zero help offensively is a bigger deal than being pulled off the bag on a bad throw.

It indirectly led to what would eventually be the winning run. That said, 0/10 with runners on base and leaving 2 runners in scoring position in the last 2 innings cost the Tigers the game.
