Just like a pitch hitter that is announced before the rain delay is in the game and the batter he replaced is out for the rest of the game.

What I don't understand is why the office box score has Strall has a "-" under the number of pitches. I understand that the he was not officially charged with the walk by I thought he would have shown up in the box score has having thrown a pitch.

That doesn't make sense to me either. Strall would've been responsible for any outcome except a walk. Even though the walk, and therefore the subsequent runner, was charged to Smith, Strall still threw an official pitch.
