I was going to say you could pull him, BUT didn't he go in to face that hitter then the rain delay, in which case he has to throw to at least one batter.

Yeah, Strall had already replaced Smith and was warming up when the rain delay started. So it looks like he had to finish throwing to that batter before he could be replaced, which is what ended up happening.
