They are more predominant now than traditional charters. A post-katrina occurrence. Their effectiveness is in question though, although on paper they are certainly supposed to be a step up from the old.

The reason I was asking in terms of comparing to charter schools in New Orleans, it seems like the charter schools in New Orleans offer sports. There might be others around the state that does as well, but it seems like there are several charter schools in New Orleans that have successful athletic programs.
