Yes. You never know what life brings you. My mom was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's at age 54. Had to quit work and was in a nursing home by 59 (costs 5K a month).

First of all, my condolences. Just lost my Aunt to this. Terrible disease

However, your moms case and my Aunt made me feel the opposite of wanting to retire. It makes me think live life while you are young and healthy and able to do so
