So you're saying there is still hope for him, huh?

Ronald was the smartest guy and best basketball player on our staff. Of course he wasn't allowed to do too much coaching. Might make Johnny look bad.

I don't think his coaching as much as the message it sends that he left his alma mater for what could be a lateral move. I have no idea if they're paying him a lot more but it looks bad nonetheless.

He was a glorified cheerleader on the bench for the players. Most of his benefit was in the locker room and in practices.

So he was more important than Jones.

Dupree wasn't a factor in the coaching of the team. More of a figure to the players than anything

My perception from things I've heard is many of the assistants are/were frustrated by the lack of input allowed under CJJ. And I think the attrition rate of assistants can maybe be attributed to that.

Did anyone coach this team?

Oftentimes he was the only authoritative figure showing any emotion and the appearance of giving a frick on the bench.

But yea, no big loss!
How could losing anyone be a big deal if the team has no choice of being relevant?

Well to be fair, no coach was.

IMHO whatever coaching was done was compromised by a steady erosion of any accountability in the program that has progressed to the critical point we witnessed this year.

Dupree is my favorite player to ever play for LSU, so I hope the move works out for him and that it is a step up..

Maybe I'm just trying to be positive, but I really think the team is going to be decent next year. Yeah, losing Simmons hurts, plus Hornsby, Quarterman and Gray were big contributors. But I'm excited to see the inside-out combo of Blakeney and Victor. Plus there are some young players with a lot of potential (I'm betting Sampson makes a huge leap as a sophomore). They probably won't win 20 games, but I think they will have a winning season. It's the kind of team that Jones thrives with.. It's going to piss a lot of the posters on here off..

Soooo, he helped them in practices, but he wasn't a coach, hmmmm. Interesting.

Must have been painful for someone who played so hard so consistently here to see the consistent lack of effort of so many players last year. I know it pained me.

Losing Dupree isn't going to hurt even though we love him. Losing David Patrick is going to really hurt this program and leave Johnny scrambling. Patrick, not only was the best recruiter on the staff, but the players trusted him!
