LSU actually used to show me a lot of love even when I was at Ruston,” Buggs said. “It was like them and Louisiana Tech and Texas who recruited me even though I had to go to JUCO first. LSU had always just been after me. I remember back in high school I got invited to Boys from the Boot for Junior Day, and I went down and did that. It was definitely a good time, and I look forward to getting back down there soon.”

Buggs said he’s heard from multiple members of the LSU staff since picking up his scholarship offer from the Tigers, with the main press coming from one-time area recruiter Bradley Dale Peveto.

“Coach Pev is my guy,” Buggs said. “He’s let me know from the start that LSU really wanted me in their class. He’s been recruiting me hard. They just let me know that I have a spot and they want me to come back home for college and play for the Tigers. The next step is just making a visit.”

Buggs hasn’t circled any visit dates for colleges yet, but he does have some schools on his shortlist for summer campus trips given their interest this spring.

“I want to get back to LSU of course, then I want to also go up and see Alabama and Ole Miss,” he said. “I would also like to get over to Baylor and see them, and I want to get down to Miami and meet with that staff.

“I am really trying to keep things completely open right now. Since they recruited me out of high school and I know a lot about LSU, that puts them in a good spot. But I am definitely going to be open-minded about things this summer when I start looking around. I just want to see what everyone has to offer before I make a decision. That’s my main goal.”

At 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds, Buggs is ranked as the No. 1 weakside defensive end prospect in the country. All seven predictions on his 247Sports Crystal Ball are in for LSU.
