I am watching the Mizzou-Oklahoma game and Kirk is still defending his actions. He is between a rock and a hard place.

You posted some of the smartest stuff I have seen in a while.

H-streit needs to man up. He won't give up his source (tigerdroppings.com coaching change board) of course

Les Miles can't leave this

Don't think it will happen. Do you know how bad the media would rip him a new a-hole.....look at Bama's coach, they still rip him to this day!

This may come as a suprise but Kirk's not a bad guy

I agree, Kirk Herbstreit is probably not a bad guy overall. However, I would bet that most of us on this board were raised by a Father and Mother that when you make a mistake, the mark of character is to "man up" and admit it? He lost a lot of "points" with me and others as well, I'm sure; not for the report, but for coninuing to cover his arse. That's the part that is causing him to take the hit; as rightfully is should!

Miles SIGNED a contract extension at OSU and a week later left for LSU...the contract they are speaking of has not even been drawn up, much less signed.

We must have just watched two separate press conferences, I guess. If you believe what you just posted after watching that, plus the BOS always has to sign off on any new contract or major revision. OK, you're right a lot of similarities between OSU and LSU, but if that's what you want to think, go right ahead!

Kirky will have a really tough time next season in Baton Rouge when ESPN does a CGD at LSU (which I *still* think LSU should ban).

Erroneous. He has an obligation to report truthful statements on a nationally syndicated sports program, not stir the pot with rumors that can have a negative effect on the outcome of a championship game.

The mark of character for a "journalist" is to not report rumor as fact. Herbie has no character.

I can agree with you on that point, with one exception. If we thought that all reporters, sports or otherwise are "factual" all of the time, we're dreaming. It would be like always trying to find "the truth" in a court of law. Reporters have to "rely" to some degree on surces, and I'm sure do as a good a job as possible to verify their source. Sometimes they miss. Is all I was saying I would be willing to give him the "benefit of the doubt" if that were the case. However, when the mistake was made (after Miles calling him out personally) to me, the real thing that showed a "lac of character" was his refusal to own up to the mistake and to perpetuate his story. And yeah, I have no problem understanding how the initial report could have skewed a championship outcome!
