If you haven't heard this method, you won't believe me until you try it... but, if you're only outside temporarily in a quick convo before you get in the car or something and they're hounding you, hold your hands above your head. They will typically just swarm to the highest point. It will get the vast majority of them above your face.

It's annoying to do and you look dumb when you do it, but it works in a pinch.
