I have stayed there with a child and brought a stroller on and off the bus. I was in one of the building at the back of the resort. It was extremely easy for me to get around there. It's a small resort by Disney standards. If you find it inconvenient and so massive, maybe you should try the HOJO out on International Boulevard.

Contemporary is a small disney resort especially before the addition of the Bay towers, but even with those additions it is half the size of FQ. FQ is not a large disney resort either. Looking at Disney resorts as a whole does not make much sense. It is much better to look at volume of bus stops in the resort versus the number of rooms. FQ has 1 bus stop for 1000 rooms. Riverside has 4 bus stops for 2000 rooms. Simply put, given the number of rooms and bus stops, Riverside has shorter walks to the bus.

There are more rooms per bus stop at FQ then many of the other resorts. Add to that, you have to share a bus with a much larger resort and you will find you spend more time and trying to get to your room from a park at FQ than many other resorts. I have stayed at most of the resorts, multiple times at Disney, FQ is not a very good resort when it comes to spending time on buses. Your best bet is to be in Riverside at bus stop close to the south depot. You will spend less time on buses that way. If you stay at FQ, you will spend the maximum amount of time on buses in the morning because you have to go through Riverside before going to the part, but you have the advantage of being the first stop at night.
