On a silverado, this is probably the repair
Undo pulley belt.
unscrew 2 bolts for alternator mount
unscrew ground wire
unscrew power wire
reverse to install

I think you're just trying to justify a new truck. But continue...
ETA - Alternator is $150 MAX
