I don't know how many animals you have, but go buy a bunch of grass starters from Pierre. Place them all over your farm in a more or less even pattern. Each patch of grass has a random chance to grow overnight, so the growth is effectively exponential. You just need to get it over that the begining curve.

Also never cut down an entire patch. Instead you should trim it to leave behind patches to grow again.

That's where I'm going wrong. I've been hacking it all away because OCD.
