re: Painted kitchen cabinets?

I think that's part of my husband's dislike too. He says once they're painted it's nearly impossible to go back.

And they aren't mdf, they're solid, at least the facings are, but I'm pretty sure they're pine stained honey oak color. This was a step above a starter home when we bought, there was nothing custom here. Resale market can't support a lot of upgrades and we're hoping to sell in a few years.
