I would think this would be better for a room which gets too cold... It can't open the vent more than all the way, so to get one room colder, it would have to kick on the AC and open the vent 100%. Alternatively, if one or two rooms get too cold in the summer (or vice versa), then it could close the vents partially or completely while the AC unit cools the rest of the house.

i would ratehr have a smart A/C air disperser what ever it is. You know the big box that divides the A/C air to go down what duct. This would eliminate the need for multiple vents in a certain room
Plus if one room needs air and no other room does, this would send 100% of the cold air to that room so it would cool down faster. this would also make it to where different parts of your house could be different temperatures.
