Rumor has it that the tradition started with the reign of Napoleon III who was jealous of the attention garnered by Catherine the Great with her pony fetish. A lack of ponies with a surfeit of donkeys and there you go. Only problem was that he forgot he had one less hole than she did until it was too late.

Some of the guys I was working with in S TX went to a donkey show in Nuevo Laredo. One of the girls did some tricks using fruit. One of our dumbass hands walked down to the stage - took one of her bananas - peeled it and ate it. That stupid bastard was deathly ill for about 3 days.
