Reliable external storage options. Stick vs Card

So im tired of my external hard drives failing on me and need a new route for external storage. This is for a work computer so deals with big files that fill up the internal ssd pretty quickly. Also can't tamper with the laptop and install bigger hard drives so thats out.
Basically just looking at 128GB options and deciding on something I can just leave either in the USB ports or the sd card slot. Looking for something that wont fail!
already bout this guy:
but wondering if i should go more along the micro route

Work computer? Why not store it on a file server?

You can't prevent failure. You can only prepare for it with redundancy, and the best way to handle that is with a server.
