He was the coach at fricking North Texas for a reason. And has he really recruited well? This team is garbage. Ben Simmons is here because of Patrick. Other than last year's duo, he hasn't recruited that well. You have no pg on this team and no one to protect the rim. You just have a bunch of players running around out there.
He's barely over .500 as a head coach, and that's only because of his record at LSU. If he wasn't an ex assistant under brown, every fan would want him gone and would have ran Alleva out of the state for hiring a .500 coach that spent 12 freaking years at North Texas.

Who hired Patrick?
Recruiting - Blakeney; Samson; Robinson; Epps; Hornsby; Patterson; Quarterman. Yes, he's an excellent recruiter. As I said, I'm disappointed that Robinson doesn't get more PT. The offense is spotty. So is the defense. I don't know that team chemistry has ever been there this year, although this team was in first place in the SEC for part of the year, and finished tied for 3rd.
You don't turn down a guy like Simmons, BUT... it didn't work this year. And while Simmons is terrific, you watch what he does in the NBA -- I don't think he'll make an impact his first year, unless he somehow gets drafted by a good team. And there's nothing wrong w/ that. His skill set is fantastic, but it's nuanced. That's what folks don't get.
