Legit question-I keep hearing how great Ben Simmons is, yet the team this year hasn't been that great. Just does not make sense to me when one great player in college hoops can carry a team. I think back to when Carmelo Anthony(who is a one dimensional ball hog but that's beside the point) took a team of nothing else to the championship at Syracuse, and then of course Syracure has been nothing since. However seems like Simmons has not really made an impact like that at lsu

CPA guy, you waited a long time to troll this board

welcome

ETA: College basketball has a lot of emphasis on guard/perimeter play. Simmons struggles in that area, and is not really his natural position. He really has a lot of work to do in his offensive game. His best skills involve passing and running the floor, which always helps to have great skill around you, particularly when it comes to shooting the ball.

It is really a combo of a lot of things. I'm not sure Ben will ever be the NBA player that Carmello has been. He is certainly a ball hog, but there is no denying he is an excellent scorer.

Gerry McNamara, Hakim Warrick, Jim Boheim, and 43 consecutive winning seasons including a final four run as recently as 2013 all say hi. Syracuse is a basketball school.

Dude just stop watching basketball if you're gonna compare LSU and Suracuse and Boeheim to Johnny Jones.

4 guys from that Syracuse teams averaged 11 points or more. They had a PG in McNamara that averaged over 4 assists per game to go along with 13 points per contest, as well as a big man that could protect the rim with over 100 blocks. LSU is a legit PG and a rim protector (Jordan Mickey) from being a contender.
