really poor scheduling. I have always been a supporter of Jones, but have continuously said he puts us in a position to fail with the way he schedules. You can't play multiple 300+ RPI teams.

75% of RPI is a strength of schedule rating. Only 25% matters on if you win your games or not.

Thanks South. Here is hoping that this may change in the near future. It would boost the teams spirit and the fans knowing they had a better shot at the tourney.

Pitt did this a few years ago. They had like a top 40 RPI and they were barely above 500.

UF is absolutely the perfect example. Their RPI and BPi is extremely good because they played

#21 Purdue
at #1 Michigan St
at #17 Miami
Florida St
Oklahoma St

And they are 17-13 with a losing conference record but have a better shot at making the tournament than we do right now.

How about not even taking a road trip to these type of teams unless you're playing in some tournament.

This is certainly a 180 change from the summer when the schedule was announced. Anyone with a bit of objectivity knew LSU's schedule was weak the moment it was completed and left them little room for error. Marquette, NC State and/or ASU, and Wake Forest may have "sounded" nice, but it should have been clear they were likely to be weak teams this season. Yet, anyone who pointed out that the schedule was weak was soundly criticized by the sunshine pumpers.

I don't blame Jones for the Brooklyn tournament schedule because he didn't pick those teams. However, the rest of the schedule was pathetic outside of Oklahoma (which was set up by ESPN). This was the most hyped year for LSU basketball in quite a while, yet they did nothing in the Nov/Dec. OOC schedule to capitalize on the incoming hype by setting up better games.

Jones gambled with the OOC schedule and lost when Victor had to sit longer than expected and Hornsby unexpectedly got hurt. If you are going to play a bad non-conf. schedule, you better make damn sure you win all or almost all of the games (ala South Carolina this season)

And then some don't understand why more people don't flock to the PMAC in November and December.
