This one here even looks good for 279. 4GB and 500GB hard drive. This is the bare minimum I'd go as far as specs for a beginner laptop but it should do everything you need it sounds like.

As you can tell I prefer HP laptops, I've had 5 of them and they all have been great. (aside from the HP Steam, but I should've known better there, the specs were terrible.)
Acer's and Toshiba's sometimes can be cheaper but I have no experience with those.
