Trick is to emulate those people who are kicking your arse. Just try shite. You will whiff a lot, then you'll start accidentally tapping the ball (into your own goal but damn it you hit it in the air!!), then it's on purpose even if the aim sucks. Then you feel like a god, before getting into a game with Vafele and realizing you don't know shite, going back to the "Just try shite" phase.
