Especially with LSU students frequenting downtown far more

When are they going downtown?

They arent going during the day during the week, they dont go during weekdays at night, and they dont go much during the weekends.

Downtown 3rd street on weekend nights is filled with central, zachary, baker etc people. During the week its a ghost town.

Its all relative.

They used to NEVER EVER go down there. It wasn't even an option as there was nothing there. They do occasionally now. Fraternities even rent out B&T's, or used to, for their parties. Seen lots of college kids at Tsunami happy hour and on weekends at the bars. One of the biggest issues was transportation and this would resolve that.

Making that whole corridor more appealing is a good thing IMO. A better downtown would result and that is very important for the city.

Plus it gives drunk students a safe free/cheap ride.

ETA:

Even when I was still in college in 2011 more and more people were starting to go downtown. The biggest issue we always heard was "how are we getting there and back?". Uber has helped, this will help even more. Connecting LSU to downtown is a good thing.
