Spin-Off: Are Scotty Cameron putters really worth the money?

I understand the theory that "you get what you pay for," especially when applying the phrase to almost any other golf club in your bag, but are Scotty Cameron putters really worth the price? I mean aren't putters just a solid flat surface with little room for variation as far as abilities? Having never played with one and being too poor to buy one "just to check it out," I figured I'd ask the OT.

Over hyped yea, but they aren't bad. I used a Pro Platinum for a few months and thought it was ok. I still prefer my Ping Anser.

Putting is as much about confidence as it is about technique and equipment.
If the equipment gives you confidence, it's worth it IMO.
I have a Newport 2.5 custom fit for me and I am leaving everything to it in my legal will.

Part of putting is mental. If it makes you more confident, you'll putt better. JMO. I don't have one, but I do have a putter that I am confident in.

Worth the money -- not really, but it is the same with other high-end brand name products. That being said, if it gives you an added degree of confidence, then go for it.
I currently play one, but it's still not worth the money. A putter for 1/3 the price will work just as well.

Some putter faces are certainly more forgiving and consistent than others, but I agree that the difference is marginal, especially once you reach a certain quality.
My younger brother plays high school golf and recently got a Scotty. It took him quite a while to adjust to the speed because the ball was jumping hot off the face. He is adjusted now and loves it, but I can still out-putt with my $120 Odyssey. User matters more than the club in most instances.

Mine is the best tool in my bag. I love putting now that I got it, it feels really steady and has just the right weight and balance to it. Too bad it takes me a while to get to putting since my driving still sucks

I am loyal to a ping putter I have used for 30 years. I think if the putter feels comfortable in your hands you will putt better.
A bad putter probably wont get better using the most expensive putter but a good putter might.

It depends on your level of play.
Is a Pro-V that much better than a Pinnacle for a hacker? No.

I like mine. I got it last year looking for a change from my two ball I putted with for 10 years.
I had no confidence in my two ball. Whatever putter you put behind the ball that makes you feel like the ball is going to go in is worth the money IMO.
Like most have said, putter is the most mental club in the bag.

Yes they are worth the money, super sweet putters.
But having said that, it's what you prefer in your hand during the round. I switched from my Scotty about a year ago to a SeeMore for about 1/4 of the price. I won't be switching back anytime soon either.

I think so. I'm a big feel player and can tell the difference in most putters with one or two putts. SC's are top of the line in that regard.

They aren't going to make you a good putter, but they are quality sticks. I rock a used one, would never pay full price for one. For 300 you could get a nice custom putter from a smaller company. I bought one for my dad, a c&l 350 milled putter, that's nicer than most Cameron's I've seen.

Expensive or pretty cheap. If it feels right and lines up in your eye. Buy !! All in the feel.
