funny how there are pages and pages of disagreements among films featuring white people (with some really egregious frickups) but one film with black people gets snubbed or no black people get nominated for a couple of years and it is "racism"

Not to derail the thread, but not a single minority getting nominated for any of the 20 possible acting slots over the past two years is absurd. The problem isn't the winners, or even the Oscars really, but how few roles are going to minorities despite being in a more diverse country. It ain't 1950 anymore.

But since you bring it up, Driving Miss Daisy winning in 1990 while Do the Right Thing wasn't even nominated is perhaps the greatest Oscar travesty ever. Or I don't know... friggin' Glory came out in 1989 as well. Not nominated for Best Picture.

Youre generally right about snubs in the past although people here will never admit it. That said, the Academy has more than made up for it in recent years and one year is not cause for some outrage. It would be more demeaning to have some quota system in place.

Secondly, Hollywood blacks seem to think they have some monopoly on the minority roles that we are supposed to be outraged which is outrageous itself. This whole faux outrage isn't about 'hey where are all the multicultural films and actors?,' it's 'Hey why don't more black people get nominated.'
