The Graduate is arguably a Top 10 film...and one of the best examples of a sublime dramedy.
And apart from the dialogue, the setting and the times, it's a brilliantly shot film...with a score that perfectly matches what you are seeing on film.
Only the setting is a product of it's time.
That same youth angst after graduating from college or high school and not knowing what to do - has been copied ENDLESSLY since The Graduate and they make a new movie about it every year. Hell, they tried to copy The Graduate with the Summer of 42 right away. They are always using that same formula...up to this day. Hasn't aged well? That's like saying Die Hard hasn't aged well but love the movies that copied it.
Graduate hasn't aged well? That's like saying the Beatles, Chuck Berry, Hank Williams and Stones classic hits suck now. You know, the folks the set the foundation that set a plethora of copy-cats.
I guess it's all taste.
