Do you have a Red Wing store by you? I take mine in to get cleaned/waterpoofed once a month at the store by me.

They will clean them, oil them, waterproof them, replace the laces and/or replace the eyelets for the life of the boot. Also you can pay to get them re-soled because the upper part of the boot will likely outlive the sole.

They look better after a coat of mink oil (darkened the leather) and then as the soles get dirty and become a more cream rather than white.

Also, if you don't wear they with skinny/rolled jeans they don't look as clunky and hipstery

Thanks for all the responses. I checked out the Danner and Thorogood boots recommended on their sites, just wish I could try them. I going to go to the Red Wing store in Lafayette tomorrow and try them on.

18, thanks for the heads up on the maintenance it may just be worth $100 more to bring them in every year, especially if I get a decade out of them.

Thanks again for all the serious responses.
