More than 9,000 Chinese villagers are leaving their homes to make way for aliens.

It is not a colonization plan from outer space. The Chinese government is relocating thousands of villagers to complete construction by September of the world’s biggest radio telescope, whose intended purpose is to detect signs of extraterrestrial life.

The telescope would be 500 meters, or 1,640 feet, in diameter, by far the largest of its kind in the world. It is called FAST, for Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope, and costs an estimated 1.2 billion renminbi, or $184 million.

And when they turn that bad boy on, they will find.....nothing.

Just like us currently.

Think about it: if the models of the universe are accurate, that means that over the course of the last billions of years, there should have been millions or even billions of planets in our own galaxy alone that developed like ours, sprung life that developed technology, who set out into the cosmos.

So, why aren't they here?

Stephen Hawking thinks trying to contact aliens is "not a very wise idea".

I tend to agree with him.

Think 1491 American Indians "reaching out" to England or Spain or Portugal, possibly with even a larger technological deficit.

Steve-O already has his eye on this. I can see him sneaking up into that thing with a skateboard, and doing a massive drop in.
