That was a case of a terrible front office decision to pick a guy who had great speed and the worst set of hands in the league. He was blessed with great speed and nothing else. He got as much out of his talent as he could have.
The one guy who had a really good career, but just never took full advantage of his ability was Vince Carter. Guy may have been the most athletically gifted player in the NBA, but just never had the heart, desire, or killer instinct to be the very best. There was nothing he couldn't do, but he was content just coasting. He should have been mentioned in the same sentence with Kobe and Jordan, but he just didn't want it bad enough.
