The dogs were owned by blue collar workers who would have to grab the dogs in the middle of a fight. Do you think they would risk a broken hand or lacerated arm? No. The dogs were trained to not be people aggressive.

Now, the APBT is in deep trouble.

Amstaffs have been mostly sheltered from it because they are generally much more expensive and much less aggressive towards people.

But, there are so many different hybrids now it's difficult to know what you're getting from a temperament standpoint.
