Armed Forces gets my vote as the best album-length rock bass recording of all time.
If I had to pick one track to support my viewpoint, it would be this.
Speaking as a bassist myself, I would kill a bitch to put together a performance like that.

That album did come to mind when I saw the title of the thread, really nice bass work. But I'd still have to go with Quadrophenia.
