So using a Tablo basically gives you a DVR for OTA and makes it so you don't have to run coax to the other tv's in your house from your antenna correct?? Seems kinda expensive for only providing that.

I don't see why it's needed.
It's simply just to record shows on local stations. If you have Vue, they have ondemand for all major networks except CBS, and in BR they just got WAFB live so you can record CBS shows now.
Having Hulu is basically the same thing, without CBS, as far as watching shows from the major networks.
Having Kodi nullifies all of that and you watch whatever you want whenever you want, for free.

Tablo (or Tivo, or whatever) isn't needed if you're just watching shows, but it's nice to have for live events (sports) if Vue (or DTV Now, or whatever) doesn't have your locals.

I hesitated on buying the Tablo for a long time, because it is a nice chunk of money up front (maybe $400 when it's all said and done). But after having it through a football season, I'd say it's paid for itself already. It's also nice to have the local news sometimes, especially during that crazy summer we had.
