I've cut the cord and have multiple tvs.

I do use my MIL password, but I use it for my kids, and it's not a necessity, it just makes it easier for me.

I have Cox 100mb/s, SB6141 modem, Netgear AC1750 router

-Living Room TV is a 55" Sony Android TV. Negative of an android tv is that a good bit of apps don't support it, such as WatchESPN, and 1 or 2 of the major networks. It does have Kodi on it though, but havent' played with it yet.
I put a Roku3 hardwired in. Also have the Clearstream OTA Antenna in the attic hooked to just this tv. I'm in Baton Rouge and catch all the channels clearly. Channel 2 seemed to be the most finicky at first.
Haven't seen what happens in bad weather yet though.

-Kitchen TV is a small LED tv that has a Roku stick on it and also has the small mohu leaf OTA antenna which is placed in a window. Kids mainly watch this in the morning, and i watch it when i'm cooking.

-Kids playroom tv has the roku2 hardwired in. Got this for free for prepaying 3 months of slingtv.

-kids bedroom tv is a POS vizio smart tv that i hardwired into. I hated this tv but since i've hardwired into it, it has performed much better. They only watch netflix and vudu on this one. I am waiting for my next 3 months of Slingtv and I will use my wife to sign up for it to get another Roku2 for free in this room.

-Office tv has a firestick on it, I usually leave it on ESPN while i work.

-bedroom tv has a Roku stick on it.

I think by far the Roku is the best option over anything else for cord cutters. There's a big difference between hardwiring it and wifi.

What i subscribe to:
1. Netflix - had it before i cut the cord $8/month. Can only watch on two tvs, and haven't had a problem yet.
2. Prime - wife had it before b/c she has a problem buying crap off amazon $8/month
3. Hulu - I got Hulu b/c i was looking at buying a Tabloo or Tivo. The Tablo seemed to be the better choice b/c of the lifetime subscription but all together it was going to cost close to $500. With Hulu, i can watch all my shows for just $11/month, just have to wait a day to watch them, which i did anyways b/c i have two toddlers in my house every evening.
I think Hulu replaces a DVR easily.
4. SlingTv - $25/month for all of the ESPN's, TBS, TNT, AMC, IFC, HGTV and more. Getting SlingTV is the easiest way to watch the Walking Dead for cord cutters, but you have to watch it live. Outside of that, you can purchase episodes for $3 on Prime. I've also noticed that after about an hour of watching ESPN on sling, it freezes up and i have to touch a button to continue. Kind of aggravating. It sucks you can only watch on one tv, but haven't had an issue with that yet either. I could see an issue arise with an LSU game on ESPN wanting to be on in the living room and the kitchen, but i can still use my MIL's log in for the watchespn app if i needed to.
5. MIL passord for NickJr and DisneyJr - We use her password for these two apps for the kids, as opposed to us just buying episodes on VUDU or Prime, which we still do anyway, just not as much, b/c then i can download them to the tablets that we use for them in the car for long trips to grandmas.
Could use it for Showtime/Starz/Encore but really don't care to.

The only negatives i have so far are CBS not allowing you to watch their shows on their app without a $5.99 subscription and any shows on AMC that you may watch.

I have not done anythign with Kodi, but would like to learn so i can watch CBS shows without the subscription.

One thing i want to do, and not sure if or how it will work has to do with my network hard drive. I have a 2TB harddrive hooked up to my router, so everything connected to it can see it. We have a shite load of DVDs, a lot of them kids DVD's. I've burned many of them onto my computer and just need to transfer them to the hard drive. Trying to find a way to play these movies from each tv in the house. That would be golden for the kids. It would be nice if i could do it through an app on the Roku, but i have a feeling i'll have to watch it on a phone or tablet and then mirror it to the Roku.

So today, i'm paying $36/month as a cord cutter, not including netflix and Prime. I was paying $125 to Directv, not icluding Netflix or Prime. $90/month in savings.
I paid $100 for the Clearstream OTA antenna, $30 for the Mohu OTA anteanna, $100 for the Roku3, $100 for the 2 Roku sticks. I used the Directv cables for the antenna, and spent $30 on 3 ethernet cables and ran them all myself. Spent $360 on the set up, although i could have easily gotten by spending probably $150 and being patient with Slingtv and getting the Roku's free. Anyways, after 3 months i'll have recovered my upfront costs and will be saving $90/month from there on out.

To me, I looked at my Directv, which i loved, as $125/month for live sports, DVR service, and background noise. Slingtv and the OTA antenna solves the live sports and background noise problem, and Hulu solves the DVR problem. The only thing i don't have now that i did before was the ability to rewind live sporting events, and having to watch AMC shows live on sling without being able to record it, but i'm sure i could find that on Kodi.

Sorry for being so long. TWSS

You might want to consider running a Plex server on a computer and let it serve up the media on the network drive. Then you could use the Plex app on the Roku to watch your stuff.
