The wife and I are working our way through the series on Netflix. We are S3E9, so please no spoilers past this point.

I found a very hard time early connecting with any of the characters. And I still do for the most part. Rick sucks. His wife sucked. Shane sucked. Rick's boy sucks. The blonde banging the Governor sucks. The bald head scalawag sucks.

I don't mind Darryl but he just took off with Merle, who sucks. Michonne is probably the only one I am rooting for now.

I got pulled in to the series for the first time at the farm. I started to connect with Glenn and Maggie, neither of whom suck. I like the old man doc. But I enjoyed when they were there. They are at the prison now and it is starting to pick up again when they raided Woodbury.

Am I alone in my thoughts? As I mentioned earlier, please no spoilers past S3E9.

You sound very hard to please when it comes to TV and movies.

I understand the hate for some characters such as Coral, Lori and Andrea but you don't like Rick? Merle? Rick is our main protagonist, damn dude.

And Merle is a rebellious, shite talking redneck. Stick with Merle though, it gets interesting for him. Same for Andrea to a degree as well.

Not really. I didn't find many characters particularly likeable, although I did like some.

It's hard to not like Rick. Carol is another one who isn't too bad. There are some other characters I won't mention because I'm not exactly sure where they fall in regards to where you are in S3, but some of them are okay and some of them suck. But I'm with you on most of the characters you named outside of Rick (although I'm not a huge Michonne fan).

I've always dug the show, but I will say that it lags in certain spots. However, one of the lag spots is the farm, and you liked that part. So it should be pretty solid for you. And despite what some cool people like to say, the last season or two have been pretty fricking awesome.
