Relax.
Lafayette compensates by outperforming the entire state in other qualities.
It's little brother image creates outsized expressions of penis envy, self doubt and self exaggeration. ( see, for example, the Claim that Laffy is as big as Shreveport).

I think he's referring to the fact that the Lafayette Metro Area now has 485k people compared to S'ports 445k. Lafayette is now the 3rd largest metro in the state and approaching top 100 in the nation at 108th. I won't criticize Shreveport the way you did Lafayette. It's pretty obvious what your issue is.
