If we're selling them on playing in their home state, why would they come to LSU in the first place?

Get to play for an elite sec program AND play in their home state

I don't know why we didn't go harder in Georgia...no pun intended.
Those kids love to get away from there.

my understanding is that the '17 class in tejas is supposed to be a very good one. BDP is our tejas recruiter; he did very well this year. BUT, as we should know, an OOS kid can leave one at the altar (La kids do it too).
LSU has signed many kids from Florida and Georgia; both states produce surpluses. we need to bust our arse in all three of these states as we need OOS kids to supplement what the state of La. produces.

Why wouldn't the Texas schools just sell them on playing in Texas to begin with?

It's spelled "T-e-x-a-s". Texas not Tejas.

Because they aren't in the sec????

I have NEVER heard a recruit claim he signed with school X because they played a game, in the area he came from !
This is simply an additional excuse to play more neutral site, money grab games !
Also, I would not bet on the Texas home/home series, ever happening !
