No kidding. I'm pretty sure that the age of consent in California is 16. Considering that the girlfriend is not in a position of authority or professionally/academically linked to the victim, I'm not quite sure I understand what charges she would face. Now that I think about it, if the girly had already graduated by the time the relationship began, how was the 17-year-old not of age to consent?
Also, the 22-year-old is probably being charged with her involvement/knowledge of the molestation/assault.
ETA: Turns out the age of consent in California is 18. I swore it was 16 at one point.

Some states its still statutory rape. It also says it lasted until she graduated at 17, meaning she could have been 16 when it started.
