Has anyone had success in combining GM discounts?

I'm currently about a month away from pulling the trigger on the truck I want. GM offers numerous discounts. The dealer I'm most likely going with has the vehicle I want for the GM supplier price (not sure if I can take advantage of that since I have no relations with any GM employees). GM does offer a military discount and a college discount, I can qualify for both but I'm not sure if they can be combined. Can anyone on here clarify this before I pick up the phone?

And if it reads true, I'm pretty sure I qualify for the GM trade-allowance. My next question would be if I can combine those discounts, would I be better off going through a trusted car buying service (USAA, Navy Federal Credit Union) or the dealer to take full advantage? My last vehicle purchase I was going to go through USAA but the dealer beat their financing.

I combined supplier price and student discount. If they won't combine them, shop around. I know they can do it, but there are definitely many dealers out there that would rather pocket that money. As for financing, if you have good credit, dealer financing is usually cheaper in my experience. I'd call around the week you start looking and get rates to be sure though.

The fine print under the discount should tell you. I'd look it up, but I'm feeling lazy right now. Sorry.

What kind of price are you getting on what kind of truck? Cross shop it with prices in Houston if you aren't buying there already.

When I bought my truck and my wife's SUV, I had the option to use the GM family discount due to my uncle retiring from GM. What I found was that I was able to get a better price with the discounts at the time than I would have been able to get using the GM discount which is not much for a nephew. They are typically in my experience willing to deal a little more because the GM family plan sets the price and that is the price they get and that point they will not negotiate anymore. I had the paperwork filled out if the negotiations stalled and the Family price would have been cheaper

Supplier discount is not the same as employee price unfortunately. I used to get a supplier discount with Ford, General Motors, and Nissan. That said, the big 3 are usually more aggressive with discounts on their full sized trucks as a general rule of thumb.

For now, they don't come off the price as much on the new Chevrolet and GMC mid sized trucks. I'm waiting for the novelty of a diesel mid sized truck to slow down before I buy a Colorado.

I went through Ford Credit @ 6% when i bought my truck to take an extra $1k off the price then refinanced it through NFCU @ 2.29% the next month.
