Actually his lawyers violated the settlement agreement which led to the release of the deposition transcripts. The deposition transcripts led to the charges being filed.

The hearing was to dismiss the charges because the new evidence that led to the arrest came from Cosby's own testimony from the deposition transcripts.

The former DA Bruce Castor and Cosby's lawyers agreed that what he said in the deposition would not be used against him in a criminal case.

The Judge saw things the other way...that's what the hearing was about.

Honestly, I thought they were going to dismiss the case. Or at least dismiss the deposition.
