How to fill unwanted hole in gun?

I have a gun that was drilled and tapped for a scope mount. I want to fill the holes left since the gun will never see a scope again. How would I do that?

Superglue a headless screw in threaded hole flush with outside of hole

Take the mount off and put the screws back in the holes.
Or do you want a flush/clean look?

Yeah the old screws screw into the bolt if I tighten them down.

fluxed solder. Hit it with a torch

Here's the top of my pow-pow's old Marlin 35 Rem.
It never had a scope on it but was drilled and tapped for one. I'm assuming these are similar to what Blaze posted.

Don't use glue or put any sort of solder in the holes. You didn't mention your gun but you did say that if you tighten the old screws down they interfere with the bolt. Take it to a gunsmith and ask if he could throw in some old factory plugs in there for you. Shouldn't charge you much (kept a cup of those things on my bench and probably had hundreds in there) and if you're really nice and catch the guy in a good mood he might not even charge you. Worse comes to worse he can always order a set for you.
Just my two cents.

YES. I just don't know what size to get. I'll have to put a caliper on my screws

most rifles are tapped 6-48 but there are exceptions .... call the manufacturer to confirm size then find your filler screws
what make/model rifle ... chances are someone on the OB can help you

But if you have a good gun shop nearby, this might work, as well.
