The acting is terrible outside a few actors.

I disagree. I found the acting pretty good, overall, with notable exceptions. The actor playing AJ was just never in the game. They cast him as a kid. He actually got worse over time, but that was as the role grew.

Ditto for Jamie Lynn Sigler - although her eye candy value really shot up over the show's run. When I watched it with Mrs. Midnight, I commented, "Do the producers know they didn't do Sigler any favors by casting such a good actor as Finn (Will Janowitz)?"

So many of her scenes were with Nurse Jackie (who was all over the place) and AJ (terrible actor), which concealed it some.

That's what hurt AJ the most, as he was in so many scenes with Gandolfini - like standing Olivier next to Keanu.

Edie Falco absolutely killed that role as Carmela. She was great.

What a great line, that kid just never had a shot. Why wouldn't they just recast after season 1 or 2...who cares about loyalty the kid couldn't act and he brought the whole show down. It also would've helped if he wasn't such a big role in many episodes.

They also should've recast him because he was supposed to be a football player and built like Gandolfini...not some emo kid. But ya know, maybe he never had the makings of a varsity athlete...

don't get me wrong... he was annoying. But to me that is what made him have an effective role in the show. A few of the people in Tony's family all were super annoying at different times.

his mom... super bitch
Janice... same

the only smart one appeared to be Tony's youngest sister who seemed to keep her distance from those whack jobs.
