bullshite. The shark had a messed up face. From the explosion.
I know I'm not misremembering it.

Well, this changes things. Apparently the burns came from being shot earlier in the film.
I guess 14 year old me doesn't have the best recollection and missed the opening scene of the movie.
I'm going with the "twin brother looking for revenge" angle now.
Yup. Second shark was Jaws's twin brother, who was also named Jaws.
Sharks aren't very inventive.
