In march/april, i'm going to build my dad a large corral trap. I am looking for ideas to rig the door enclosure to send a signal to my dad's cabin when the door is closed...mainly to elimante him from having to go out there everyday and just be able to see from inside (his mobility has been limited with his age). This trap will not be far away, maybe <100 yards through dense woods. Does anyone have ideas for something I could rig, just a sensor that will signal to the cabin that the door has been tripped?

I've never explored this type of need before, but love trying to problem solve stuff like this.

Search Amazon for item below. Battery operated with 1/2 mile range. You would have to work with the sensor to set it to alert you when hogs are in the corral. Not expensive at all to give it a try.

A review that sounds applicable

Well, you decide? By Red Ball Jets - November 1, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase Your level of satisfaction with this product will be based solely on your application. First, let me explain how this product works. This product senses motion between two different temperatures. The outside air and anything warmer or cooler than that air. So, thankfully swaying tree branches do not trigger it. If you're looking to be alerted to humans or animals, this product does that very well. If you're looking to be alerted to vehicles (which is why I bought it) there will be some limitations

Also, trying looking for a wireless swimming pool gate alarm. Similar application to what you're looking for. Distance involved may be an issue though.

Update us on the outcome. I enjoy seeing what solution ultimately solved the problem.

Check out dakota alarms. They work well but are motion detected
