[quote]Growing up watching football and Super Bowls in the Seventies and Eighties is light years from what he time...

The NFL was still evolving back then. Tv contracts. REAL Monday Night Football. The Super Bowl STILL had its growing to do and it was a better product overall than it is today..... To this day the 1982 SB[SF vs.Cincy] is still the highest rated SB ever... Not sur what happened to cause this but man the 70's and 80's were some kinda good for the NFL... It may be mor popular now[somehow] but for the wrong reasons...... The Super Bowl has lost its luster bigtime. Its all fluff and duff and they spend SO much talking about he game and the commercials are way to many... ALSO the SB should NEVER start no latter than 4:30 Eastern Time.

Agreed PJ. Remember what it was like before the commercials became the main focus of attention. The first Super Bowl I remember as a kid was the Minnesota-Pittsburgh game in 1975 I think. Terry Bradshaw was from my hometown and that made me a huge Steeler fan. Neighbors across the street were from Minnesota and it had snowed the night before the game. They had carved out their prediction in the snow on the roof of their house having the Vikings win by 17-10. I remember that pissing me off as a six year old kid and loving it when the Steelers kicked their arse. Great memories.
