You see this 100% of the time in threads about older brands. I always wonder if it's actually true, or if it's just a psychological fallacy due to either conditioning or the person changing tastes and/or being able to afford better shoes.

I mean, you will never see a thread about a mid-level brand that's been around without this comment. It can't always be true.

I think J&M soles are rubber, which is a dealbreaker for me.

I inherited a golf bag from someone wealthy who passed away. Tucked inside was a brand new pair of J&M spiked golf shoes from the early 80's probably. They're beautiful half white leather half brown alligator. I wore them once. Most uncomfortable shoe I've put on my foot. Could've just needed some breaking in, but I think we've come a long way technologically.

Not to be a snob, but I can't stand my 3 pair of AE's either. I bought different lasts trying to find one that worked and they all rub my baby toe something fierce. I buy Ferragamo when I find a sale.
