MTV wouldn't even play black music videos. This is what birth BET.

Wrong.

For example, videos from Michael Jackson were "world premier"'d on MTV. They were huge, huge, events. If you want to blame anyone for fewer videos from black performers on MTV in the early days, blame black performers. They didn't make videos or embrace the concept of having to go shoot a video to promote your music.

Search for videos from the biggest names in music that were black. They were few an far between, whereas most every worthless US and British pop/electric/progressive/onehitwonder groups out there were making videos concomitant with their music recording.

MTV can't play what doesn't exist.

I mean if I was a black kid growing up I prolly would have wanted BET. I would have had one show to watch with a Black family( Family Matters)while my honky friends got to watch dozens

Had a whole segment dedicated to just Rap Music. I think it was called "Yo MTV Raps" or something like that.
